All scheduled activities below are subject to dates changes within our time bracket based on the 2022 Greek Tourist season.
Week 1: Cultural Immersion
This first week is about building community within our group of participants and forging an understanding of Greece's relationship with theatre, its culture, and its ancient and modern theatre practices.
Participants will meet in Athens to attend an orientation dinner to become acquainted with peers and teaching artists, climb Acropolis Hill and discover its theatres and slopes, and watch the sunset over the Temple of Poseidon. Additional Ancient sites to be announced. Greek Folk Dancing Workshops and Ancient Greek Theatre Theory Seminars & Practical Workshops will inform our students' experience at traditional Greek dance and theatre performances.* These workshops will include lecture, discussion, and acting/movement components.
*Live performance experiences will be based on the most updated COVID-19 regulations and the theatre performance calendar for 2022.
Week 2: Beyond Greek Theatre
All participants will ferry to the beautiful Ionian island of Zakynthos.
Island workshops may include Choro Drama Movement (Ancient & Contemporary), Improvisation & Contemporary Theatre Scene Work, Film Studies, and other movement techniques for acting.
