Registration, Costs and Housing FAQs

 

What is the legal business name: ITDP is a branch of International Dance Project. International Theatre & Dance Project refers to the program title. Please make all checks payable to IDP. 

Who can register?: This program is appropriate for students with a passion for theatre and/or dance between the ages of 18-25. There are limited spots available for students ages 16-17. Students ages 16-17 must be accompanied by their own chaperone(s). Applicants that are outside of this age bracket will be considered on an individualized basis. Chaperones: All students under the age of 18 must attend this program with a chaperone. 

How to register?: Students are registered when their registration form is complete and their tuition is paid in full. 

 

When to register by?: Enrollment will close when we reach our student limitation of 12-15 students or by February 15th, 2021. Enrollment is limited, thus allowing for a small and tightly knit ensemble and individual student attention.

How can I hold a spot?: To guarantee a spot, ITDP requires a non-refundable deposit of $300 at the time of Early Enrollment application submissions and full tuition at the time of Standard Enrollment. Registration information and supplementary materials must be submitted at the time of these payments. If accepted, the deposit/tuition is non-refundable. Early Enrollment remaining balance is due by February 1, 2021. If it is unpaid at this time, the student will be liable for the Standard Enrollment rate.

Tuition payments will be refunded to you ONLY if a student is not accepted into the program or in the event that ITDP cancels programming due to COVID-19.

Tuition

 

Tuition: Tuition for the program covers instruction and masterclasses, as well as fees for Athens activities & seminars (Acropolis tour & entry ticket, metro/bus tickets, orientation/farewell dinners, Ancient Greek Theatre & Traditional Dance Seminars in Athens). Please note that these costs do not include airfare, housing, ferries, additional transportation, food, or additional recreational activities.

Standard Enrollment- Tuition:

Regular tuition is $2000 if paid by check (additional fees apply if paying via Paypal) and is non-refundable.* Please submit a $2000 non-refundable deposit,* registration form, and supplemental materials to ITDP.

Are there any promotional discounts or scholarships available?: Yes!

  • University and Teacher Referral Discount: Students and Alumni from Wagner College or referred by McCaela Donovan of Boston University, Joe Short of Harvard University/University of Rhode Island, Rachel Bertone of Boston Conservatory/Long Island University, Ashley DeLane Burger, and Shana Dirik take an additional $50 off the EARLY ENROLLMENT OPTION.

  • Early Enrollment Discount: $1800 if paid by check (additional fees apply if paying via Paypal) and is non-refundable.* Please submit a $300 non-refundable tuition deposit (additional fees apply if paying via Paypal)*, the registration form, and supplemental materials with to ITDP by December 31, 2020. If accepted, students will be invoiced and the non-refundable $1500 balance* will be due by February 1, 2021 to secure the student's spot. If the balance is not paid at this time, the student may attend at the regular tuition rate if a spot is still available at that time.

Additional Costs

Housing in Athens (4-5 nights): ITDP will be offering a housing package for those students interested. 

In Athens, we will be staying in the Acropole area, which is convenient to all major sites and seminar studios. Students may choose between double and single rooms at our partnered hotel. Depending on the optional early arrival day (Aug 2) students should expect to stay 4-5 nights at approximately $70/night including taxes and breakfast.* Alternatively, students may find their own housing in Athens, if preferred.

Housing in Syros (14-15 nights): ITDP will be offering a budget housing package at a conveniently located pensione in the heart of Ermoupoli. Currently, 2021 rates are not available, but we are working with several options at the moment to get our students the best rate. In 2019 student housing for this portion of the trip ranged from $23-$60/night (depending on the number of roommates) including taxes. Students may request to room with one another or may be assigned. Students might expect a small price increase in summer 2021 as a repercussion of the pandemic. Alternatively, students may find their own housing in Syros, if preferred.

Medical Travel Insurance: Unlike many Cycladic islands, the cosmopolitan Syros offers an extensive hospital facility, just near the port. Due to COVID-19 ITDP is requesting that students purchase medical travel insurance for Summer 2021. This insurance is inexpensive and will offer peace of mind. ITDP will email suggested options to students.

 

Meals: There are local grocery stores in the area. Those without a kitchen should plan to stock up on snacks that can be refrigerated. Students should expect to spend about $12-$25 per basic meal out.


Flights: ITDP works with a Greek travel agent who is happy to assist our students in finding the best rates for flights. Otherwise, students are responsible for booking their own flights. 

Ferries: Students should plan to spend approximately $70-$80 on ferry transportation to and from Paros, however, half-price ferry tickets can be purchased on Blue Star Ferry Line with the purchase of a $20 ISIC Card, which also boasts very affordable student travel insurance.

Transfers: ITDP is happy to set up transfers for our students to and from the airport. The driver will meet the student at passenger pick-up and assist with baggage. Approximately 40-45 Euros must be paid in cash to the driver upon pick-up and drop off. If arriving on the same flight as another ITDP student, the fare will be less per person. If traveling with another ITDP student, prices per person are at a lower rate.

Ancient Theatre Production: Although we are unable to include it in our package due to the closures of theatres due to COVID-19, there may be a once in a lifetime opportunity for students to experience live theatre in an open-air Ancient Greek amphitheater in Summer 2021. If added, this opportunity would be highly encouraged but optional. Students would pay additional fees for tickets and travel to the performance by charter bus.
